PAGE #11 "2810" SERIES SPECIFICATIONS AND ORDERING DATA FEATURES: The P.E.C. "2810" Super XD Series Equipment is the group designed for the ultimate in performance for the transportable applications and yet unbelievably low-priced. In addition to the features outlined for the "3500", (See Page 6) the "2810" Super XD incorporates those refinements and ad- vantages: the latest type barrel shutter for practically noiseless and trouble-free operation and for ease of timing and maintenance; precision-synchronized framing by rotation of intermittent movement, which is of the standard theatre type, operating in an oil bath; doubly re-enforced framer synchronizer for extra mechanical strength; built-in D.C. Exciter Supply for full bass re- production with no 120 cycle hum. Perfect, silent changeovers are accomplished through the simple use of the motor switches and of the lamp switches, the latter controlling both the projection lamp and the D.C. exciter supply, with no inter-projector wiring. In the few installations where projector port hole centers are too far apart to permit the manual changeover as described above, the "2802" projector may be specified which is identical to the "2810" except that built-in sound and picture changeovers with micro-switch changeover buttons are supplied with a 4 conductor cable and polarized interlocking connector assembly. - See Variations on Page 14. All film bearing surfaces are of hardened and polished chromium finish over especially ground sur- faces, which are very kind to film and which have an unusually long life. The aperture assembly is equipped with highly-polished chromium baffles which reflect away from the aperture the heat, which is carried off by the efficient lamp cooling system; the net result is the fact the entire aperture is only warm to touch, immediately after the projection of a 22 minute reel of film - facilitating operation and lengthening film life. A secondary aperture assures that threading will always be in frame. Further, the aperture plate assembly permits instant interchangeability of aperture plates of the various ratios. The "2810" is readily field-convertible to the "10" Series, utilizing arc-lamp light source, for future projection of even larger, wider projected pictures. (See Conversions Page 14) The "2810" easily accommodates Vistavision non-anamorphic film (1:1.85 ratio) with the mere replacement of the standard slip-out type aperture and with the use, usually, of a shorter focal-length lens. (See Conversions - Page 25) The "2810" can also accommodate Cinemascope film (See Conversions - Pages 25, 26, and 27) with either optical sound track or with magnetic 4 track stereophonic sound. The "2810" illustration, on the adjacent page, shows the Westrex "R-9" magnetic sound reproducer, perfectly adapted to the "2810" without modification to either the "2810" or to the "R-9", all adaptation being accomplished through the use of two mounting plates. All types of anamorphic lenses mount easily to the flat, practical front of the "2810", with ready accommodation of the various anamorphic lens supports as shown in the illustration, although our recommendation is for the variable, prismatic-type, anamorphic lens with its simple mount and with no need for auxiliary support or for physical coupling with the objective lens, thus in many instances increasing the latitude of utilizing existing lens stocks without concern of matching threads, etc. The standard "2810" does not include the illustrated magnetic reproducer or the illustrated anamorphic lens and mount; the illustration is for the purpose of emphasizing the facility with which the basic "2810" design can accommodate one of the foremost of the new 35mm motion picture sound reproduction techniques. (See Conversion Section on Pages 25, 26, and 27.) The entire optical system of the "2810" is perfectly matched at f1.9 - from reflector, through Mazda lamp, condenser lenses, and projection lens. With its improved coated optical system and with the new f1.9 projection lens, the "2810" with its 1000 watt Mazda lamp source can produce on a screen of good quality and condition, a 14' wide image of excellent definition and of excellent brilliance. The "2810", typical of all P.E.C. Models, presents a unit construction of picture and sound re- producing mechanisms -- compactness with ease of threading; compactness with inimitable ease of servicing. The P.E.C. "2820DA" Amplifier is the perfect deluxe companion to the "2810"; in addition to the features of the "2804DA" amplifier (See Page 6) the "2820DA" is housed in a streamlined cabinet
